The Cheyney Foundation was created to ensure that the mission of Cheyney University continues for generations to come. Through scholarships, academic programs, and strategic initiatives, the Foundation helps sustain the vision first established in 1837.

Establishing the Cheyney Foundation
In 1971, university leadership created The Cheyney Foundation to expand philanthropic support and strengthen the University’s future through scholarships, partnerships, and community engagement.
On February 25, 1837, Cheyney University of Pennsylvania became the Nation's First Historically Black College and University (HBCU)
